From the Head of School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the UNSW Rural Clinical School (RCS) website, where you will find information about the School’s history, mission, governance, activities and other services. You will find much needed information about our major campuses in Wagga Wagga (Headquarters), Albury Wodonga, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Sydney. As well, we have sub-campuses in Griffith and Kempsey.
The School, funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, takes long stay students (for a minimum of 1 year) usually in Year 4, with many staying on to complete most of their clinical undergraduate training in Years 5 and 6. The good news is that the examination results of these students have been and continue to be at least as good as those of their metropolitan counterparts due to the wonderful array of committed medical and other teachers who teach our students in our hospitals and community settings. This confirms the successful delivery of the clinical medical curriculum by the RCS. Of course, allowances are paid to our students to ensure they are not financially disadvantaged by attendance at the School.
If you are interested in joining us, please take the time to look through the array of material included in this site, and do not hesitate to contact us for further information if required. I hope you enjoy your visit to our website
