Brain and Ageing Research Program

Diseases and disability related with ageing have been recognised as major challenges facing our community. While ageing relates to a wide spectrum of biological and psychosocial changes, the ageing of the brain stands out as being a salient aspect of the processes involved. The last decade has seen significant developments in neuroscience, which has given rise to the possibility that we may be in a position to prevent and treat age-related neuropsychiatric disorders.

The University of New South Wales and the hospitals associated with the South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service have many researchers and health professionals involved in the care of the elderly and research into age-related conditions. The Brain & Ageing Research Program brings together their expertise in research, training and education into various aspects of the brain ageing. More...
