Clerkships (Non-UNSW Students)
The University of New South Wales offers clerkships (electives) through clinical schools to non-UNSW medical students. Clerkships must be at least four (4) weeks and cannot exceed eight (8) weeks.
Please note
Prince of Wales Hospital has no places between 1 October and the following 15 January each year;
Sydney Children's Hospital has no Paediatrics places available for 2010;
St Vincents Hospital has no places in surgery during December and January each year. These arrangements are not negotiable.
We are currently accepting applications for commencement from November 2010.
Please see the note on Visas.
Students are advised to apply for a criminal record check/statement to the appropriate authority within their own country at the time of application. This is a most important document. Applicants are required to forward this statement to UNSW with the application form.
Important points to read first
| - | Applications for Clerkships (Electives) must be made through the Office of The Dean, Faculty of Medicine directly, not to individual hospitals. |
| - | Applications for medical clerkships are highly competitive. The University receives more applications than there are places available. |
| - | Students may apply for one (1) clerkship only. |
| - | Clerkships are not provided during the period from mid-December to mid-January.
Please note that international and interstate students are NOT ELIGIBLE for half fare concession travel on government public transport in Sydney. Purchase and use of concession tickets may result in a heavy fine. |
