Applying to the Undergraduate Medicine Program

Am I a Local Applicant?
Local applicants are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and New Zealand citizens. Note that applicants who have Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency must apply as a local applicant. They are ineligible to apply as an international student irrespective of their citizenship of any other country.

Am I a Rural Applicant?
Rural Applicants apply to Medicine through the Rural Student Entry Scheme. Applicants are considered rural if they have lived in a defined rural location in Australia for a minimum of five years from the age of five. Applicants must choose to apply through the Rural Student Entry Scheme or General Entry, they cannot apply to both. Applicants who lived in a rural location other than Australia are not eligible for the scheme.
Am I an International Applicant?
International applicants are not Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. Note that applicants who have Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency must apply as local applicants. They are ineligible to apply as an international student irrespective of their citizenship of any other country.
