About the Undergraduate Medicine Program
In 2004, the Faculty of Medicine introduced an entirely new six-year undergraduate Medicine program (Program 3802) leading to the awards of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB,BS). Students can also enroll in a new Arts/Medicine program (3841) which, over seven years leads to an additional award of Bachelor of Arts (BA, MB,BS).
The Program is highly integrated both horizontally and vertically. All courses are interdisciplinary: biomedical sciences are integrated with one another and with the social and psychological sciences. The scientific basis of medicine and clinical experience go hand in hand throughout all years of the program.
Learning is student-centred, intellectually challenging and diverse in order to respond to student needs. It promotes the value of experience, reflection and personal growth. The explicit aim is to graduate lifelong learners of medicine.
