Primary Health Care Practitioner Research Scholarship - applications open
As part of its Researcher Development Program (RDP), the UNSW Research
Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity is offering an 18 month
scholarship to enable primary health care professionals to enrol in a
Masters by Research at the University of New South Wales.
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, the RDP seeks to enhance the research capacity of primary health care
professionals by providing financial support to undertake priority research and access existing infrastructure within academic settings.
In this round one 18 month scholarship of A$30,000 (tax-free) to undertake a Masters by Research (full-time) at the Centre will be offered. Applicants must undertake a program of research within one of the Centres research streams:
Prevention and management of chronic disease
Primary health care system development
Understanding and intervening to address health inequalities
Strong preference will be given to applicants willing to be supervised by a senior academic member of staff within the Centre.
This program is open to the following primary health care professional
groups: general practitioners (including academic registrars), community and allied health professionals, Division of General Practice staff, professionals in primary care related NGOs and other peak bodies, aboriginal health workers etc.
Award of the Scholarship in no way automatically guarantees entry into a Masters by Research program. Each application for a research degree at UNSW is academically assessed by the relevant School and approved by the Faculty.
Those currently in reciept of a scholarship or similar award are not
eligible to apply.
Applications close at the end of June 2007.
Interested applicants should contact the Program Coordinator, Vanessa
Traynor, on 9385 2518 to discuss suitability and application procedures.
