Prof Mark Harris appointed to the National Primary Health Care Strategy External Reference Group




Professor Mark Harris, Professor of General Practice and Executive Director of the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (CPHCE) at UNSW, has been appointed as a member of the External Reference Group to assist the Federal Government in its development of a new health care strategy.

Known as the National Primary Health Care Strategy, it aims to better tackle the health challenges of the 21st century, and ensure that families can receive the health care they need.
As a member of the External Reference Group, Professor Harris, will support the Government in developing the strategy which includes focusing on a better reward system for prevention, supporting patients with chronic disease to manage their condition, supporting the role of GPs, addressing the growing need for access to other health professionals, and encouraging a greater focus on multidisciplinary team-based care.
