2008 Research Development Program

The UNSW Primary Health Care Research Network (PHReNet) and the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity would like to congratulate Sharon Ganzer and Anna Jones, for successfully gaining a placement with the 2008 Researcher Development Program.

The Researcher Development Program is an opportunity for primary health care professionals to gain experience and skills in research and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Sharon Ganzer is a Registered Nurse in Community Mental Health from the North Coast Area Health Service.

Throughout 2008, Sharon will be working on HealthOne, a program initiated by the NSW Department of Health to address the integration of primary health care across the Commonwealth, state and non-government sectors. The idea is to bring together services such as GPs, allied health and community health to a setting that will enhance patient focused health provision and ultimately reduce the need for hospitalisation. The role of UNSW is to evaluate this program.

Sharon will participate in the development of the evaluation including literature reviews and data collection and will be based at CPHCE, UNSW Randwick Campus.

Anna Jones is a Speech Pathologist with Westmead Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service.

During 2008 Anna will be working on Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) with Indigenous Communities. Anna will undertake components of HIAs including literature reviews and undertaking and analysis of key stakeholder interviews and report writing. During her RDP placement, Anna will be based at CHETRE, Liverpool.
