Academic registrar positon
This position offers GP registrars the opportunity to develop skills in research and teaching. Registrars will be supported through the process by senior staff, from formulating a research question and designing a study through to analysis and publication. They will also have the opportunity to assist with undergraduate medical teaching and experience working in an academic department of general practice.
Registrars will be able to develop their professional skills by attending the Primary Health Care Research Network (PHReNet) research training workshops and short courses in research methodology run by the NSW PHCRED program. They will have the opportunity to present their research at PHReNet research seminars and be strongly supported to present at a relevant conference such as the GP and PHC Research Conference and have their study published in a journal. Senior GP academics will provide mentoring throughout the year and are happy to provide advice to those registrars who at the completion of the position have an interest in furthering their academic career, by undertaking a higher degree such as a Masters or PhD. The general skills gained from undertaking this position such as searching for evidence and critical analysis will enhance the registrar’s professional development and assist in their clinical work.
