Centre for Equity Health and Primary Health Research in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven

The Centre for Equity and Primary Health Research in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven (CEPHRIS), undertakes research in primary health care with a particular focus on primary health care system development. It was founded in 2002 with support from the UNSW, the Illawarra Division of General Practice (IDGP) and the Illawarra Area Health Service. It has undertaken research on local integrated care programmes in mental health, psychological services, maternity services and wound care. State and national projects have addressed the use of IT in nursing homes, evaluation of the national GPHI demonstration projects with CGPIS and work on manpower supply issues in general practice.

The Centre works with local divisions of general practice, NGOs and State and Commonwealth Departments of Health. CEPHRIS is part of the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity. It is based in the IDGP offices in Wollongong.
